Black History Month Writing or Art Contest
Theme:“Reflections: A Mirror Into Black History”
 
 
Students at Baxter Jr. High are invited to participate in the Black History Month Writing Contest. Students may enter a submission of either research paper or prose (1,000 words or less) or poetry. Winners will be notified on March 7, 2012. All entries must be submitted by February 24th to your ELA teacher. First place will receive $50.00 and second place will receive $25.00.

Students at Baxter Jr. High are invited to participate in Black History Month Art Contest. Student artwork must be original and two dimensional. Art work may not be drawn from any existing artwork (photograph, advertisement, etc) not created by the student.
Student must be created using any two dimensional medium including: Drawing (pencil, crayon, etc) or Painting (pastel, watercolor, etc). All entries must submitted by February 24th in the office. First place will receive $50.00 and second place will receive $25.00.

Greetings from Baxter Jr. High,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful start to the New Year and to the 2nd Semester of this school year!  The students at Baxter Jr. High are working hard each day in preparation for the STAAR test that will be administered in March and April.  Just to let you know, After-School Tutorials will resume January 23rd and will be Monday – Thursday of each week.  Also, Saturday Academies will begin in February.  Also, our next Conference Night is February 7th, 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.   During that time, you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and pick up his/her progress report. 

As always, thank you for your support and cooperation for the success of your child and Baxter Jr. High.  As your time allows, please feel free to visit or call the school if you need further information or have any concerns.
